So, we got back in the car and went cherry picking again today.
After many failed attempts to find a free source for cherries, we went back to our original place and found that we could get them for 99 cents a pound today. Combined, a friend and I bought about 160 lbs.
Each of these boxes is about 20 lbs.
Then, the canning began, the washing, sterilizing, destemming, washing, packing and boiling.
Everyone worked hard.
We left their house exhausted, two hours past my children's normal bed time. Falling into the chair, I checked my email. I found this response to my freecycle wanted ad to come and pick fruit trees:Jennifer,
We've got lots of Bing cherries here, and you are welcome to them.
Ron
I predict more canning in my future!

Yum, yum! Send some cherries our way :)
Wow! That is a LOT of work. I tried canning for the first time last month (I have a blog post on it) and it was time consuming! Those cherries look YUMMY though! About the running: after c25k I continued to run off and on. I just started a regular schedule again and was able to pick it back up. It is a GREAT program.
I found your blog from a comment you left on mine (just wanted to say thank you for tipping me off on spelling error). Great post on canning. I have wanted to try it, but not sure I am as brave as you are!
Ya'll certainly like cherries more than I do! Whew, I feel tired just thinking about it. I am scared of canning, because of a story my husband tells of his mother once canning ketchup. After an entire day and bushels of tomatoes, she got one jar. Ack! I did however enjoy seeing all your pics. You have a beautiful family.
